Why do we need
the European Union? Conservatives and nationalists always claim that each country is better served if it is primarily looking after its own. The truth is that the EU is a community more than the sum of its parts. This is closer to young people and not to leave the flat slogans of the nationalists, we have set ourselves Jusos BUH. So we were on 11 June to guest on Johannes Brahms high school to the students there to bring politics closer to Europe. At half past nine, we met before school in Bramfeld to play in the tenth-grade students with the policy-planning games. The students learn practical, that every individual better off if everyone starts in the first place for the community. cooperation and compromise but it works both in the simulations as well as very practical in the European Union is not without rules, because every country is interested above all in their own profit. We wanted to give students the opportunity to experience it for yourself. After an entertaining hour in the classes was followed by an interesting discussion with Knut Fleckenstein, our MEPs for Hamburg. Knut told of his work to Europe and took time to answer many critical and really good questions from the students. It was among others on the rescue of Greece, the inclusion of Turkey into the EU and the question of how much an MEP was even raised deserves.
